Review : Meet the Robinsons (2007/G)

Between Lilo & Stitch in 2002 and Tangled in 2010 much like the early 80s was a forgotten era for Disney animated features, with that said we’re taking a look at one right in the middle of that era, the 2007 film Meet the Robinsons. Ok first off this is not the 2005 film Robots, but both do look visually similar in there background settings (1950s futuristic design.) While this film is funny (hey it got Tom Sellek references so bonus points for that) it does seem a bit of a let down that the bad guy is a hat. It also has a bit of Back to the Future II / Ocarina of Time vibe with alternate futures and timelines. Honestly the main character is a whiz with electronics and is an orphan it feels like Hiro from Big Hero 6 is a rebooted take on it. It also seems to have classic Disney message that you family is unique however this puts no new spin on it and it comes off as a bit too weird, and that’s saying a lot considering its a science fiction comedy. Honestly it’s not the strongest entry in the Disney library, but if sci fi is your genre then maybe it’s worth a look.

Meet The Robinsons Trailer (Walt Disney Pictures/2007)
On a scale of 1.0 to 5.9 it got a 3.7 out of 5.9
