Thanksgiving Treat: Stuff Yourself with Great TV

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving – 1973

Why watch it?

Aside from the comically bad voice casting (Peppermint Patty is voiced by a male actor which wouldn’t be so obvious if it was a low sounding voice.) But you’ll watch it for Smoopy and Woodstock making an unconventional thanksgiving dinner of pretzels, popcorn, toast, and jelly beans.

WKRP In Cincinnati “Turkeys Away” – 1978

Why watch it?

What starts a slow moving run of the mill episode about a thanksgiving promotion is basically the equivalent to a rollercoaster hill climb. Once that crest of that hill is crossed it becomes Thanksgiving meets the Hidenberg disaster (minus all that unwanted mass casualties and death however) the sheer audio descriptions of the climax of the episode makes it appointment tv year after year.

The Simpsons “Bart vs. Thanksgiving” – 1990

Why watch it?

While we always admit the golden years of The Simpsons were 1992-1995, this is one of those early gems from season 2 when the show was more sitcom and less whacky cartoon that it is today. In fact this could be seen as an more edgy version of a classic 50s sitcom plot. Don’t let its age fool you, just because it aired in 1990 (on thanksgiving day no less) it’s still a contempary story that rings true over 25 years later.

The Goldbergs “In Conclusion, Thanksgiving” – 2015

Why watch it?

Wait your, saying to yourself, isn’t this the place that likes to rip current TV (or looking at the bulk of our reviews all TV) a new one? You be correct, however maybe because this show is set in 1980-something that it feels like a throwback to that era sitcom wise. Barry ofcourse steaks the show being well Barry in his over the top, missing the mark by a mile, but totally confident approach to telling the story of thanksgiving. Maybe because it’s based on real people you laugh because we all have someone in the family like that or who all been to a thanksgiving meal like that.

Review: Bon Voyage Charlie Brown (and don’t come back) (1980/PG)

The Peanuts Movie isn’t the first time Charlie Brown hit theaters. Snoopy and the gang first did it in 1977 but it was their second outing in 1980 that was the masterpiece. This film is more coherant with its over all story where as the other films are more of a series of sketches tied togeher in an over all ark. The characters are also more three diementional which we actuallly give credit by having characters like the all around bitch (yes well call her a bitch so deal with it) Lucy, and Mr. OCD / Aspergers Schroder only in the story for the first 10 minuets. However there is still plenty of comedy with perpetual dolt and forever missing the point Pepperment Patty, whos level of cluelessness makes you wonder if she as picked to be an exchange student as her school actually wanted to get rid of her for two weeks.

On a scale of 1.0 to 5.9 it got a 5.2 out of 5.9

Review : The Decendants (2015/TV-G)

Lately the Disney culture has branched out into villains making them antiheroes and the cool kids, now we get the descendants which feels like Once Upon a Time JR. Honestly once upon a time mixed with high school musical is about the way to describe this film and just like once upon a time where the characters is trying to go from evil to good. That’s not a bad thing to say but it is the typical Disney sugar induced stuff that kids eat up.while entertaining to watch really it’s required viewing only if you’re a true fan of everything Disney, if not catch it if you see it on Disney channel but don’t rush out to see it.

Review : Escape From Tomorrow (2013/NR)

With today’s technology you can pretty much do anything on your iPhone (hell we run a damn website/blog/Facebook page on our phone) however we’re going to award this movie points just for sheer creativity is that it was primarily shot with handheld cameras and scripted on iPhones and on top of that shot in the Walt Disney World resort complex without the permission of the park. The film is far from perfect the stories hackneyed there’s a kid or you want to punch the face but as were based in Orlando, Florida we found it fascinating to see where this was shot on property (and vain enough to see if we were walking around in the background) if you’re looking for high art this movie doesn’t have it, more of a low-budget cheaply made David Lynch project but if you want to see it for sure merit on what was it did and how was done then we recommend giving in a view on Netflix.

Review: Avengers : Age of Ultron (2015/PG-13)

Starting with this review we may occasionally employ the dictation function on the iPhone (so get ready for their views ahead ignore funny errors like this sentence that was mangled by it) we believe this will give a more natural conversation to the reviews. Right off the bat well say that we saw the first avengers but we haven’t really seen any other superhero films from the marvel universe. We’ve also saw a couple episodes of agents of the shield but since were not one for the serialize dramatic TV shows we’ve missed more shows then have actually seen. So we are not quite sure what this Ultron is needless to say this was still a good movie at times it almost seemed like it was razing itself once again thanks to Robert Downey JR who shines as Iron Man. Overall it’s a big loud explosive popcorn movie which is fine however we still would kind a like to know what’s going on here as it leaves on a cliffhanger yet again so we won’t say it was a bad movie you were going to say it’s  more of a its not too bad of a movie. However we’re looking forward to the crossover finally with guardians of the galaxy.
