Review: The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness

We’ve been to plenty of character dinners and lunches at the resorts. We’ve also been to the adventure club at the former pleasure Island going all the way back to 1994. But while Running for  for 40 years is one we actually haven’t gotten around to. It’s not Trails End but it’s next to what we’re talking about the hoop Dee Doo revue.

So basically what is this? Think of an old times barn dance mixed with a dinner show. Not your typical dinner show food either, it’s country fixins like Fried Chicken, corn bread, salads and the like. You even get a song about while some of the casts actually deliver you your buckets of fried chicken. During dinner there is a 20 min break while everyone enjoys their meal and the piano player keeps going to give you some musical entertainment with your food. Yes the jokes are hokey and cheesy but it’s the atmosphere that makes it all worth it. While not in a park it’s a short bus or boat ride over to Ft. Wilderness for this unique hidden gem.

On a scale of 1.0 to 5.9 it got a 5.1 out of 5.9

Review: Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride at Disneyland

September 7th, 1998 is a sad day for us East Coast based theme park reviewers, it was the date the Magic Kingdom lost Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

But wait what’s this the ride is still open in California? Well then we’re going on a trip.

Yes just as we lost Mr. toads wild ride, and 20,000 leagues under the sea. Disneyland in California lost the country bear jamboree and the people mover, what still live on here at Walt Disney world. But how does ride itself hold up considering the last time we rode it was 1994?

Honestly we can we could lie and say nostalgia nothing to do with it but really we saw through nostalgia cover glasses. It was what we all remembered it to be a funny yet almost to the point of too silly and politically incorrect ride that would ever exist today. Now while Disney World had two tracks the original in California only has one(But hey we’ll take one track over no tracks.)

Sure the ride is lame by today standards but it’s that classic feeling that made us ride this over and over and over (well that and the fact that we couldn’t ride it back east so keep rideing and again and again and again because who knows were coming back)

In the end if you’re traveling from Walt Disney World to Disneyland this is a must do ride just like people who come from the west to the east have to ride people mover and see country Bears we don’t judge it because it’s good or bad it’s more of this is our childhood that we can’t get back but here it’s a way to relive those memories.

On a scale of 1.0 to 5.9 it got a 5.1 out of 5.9

Review: E.T. The Extraterrestrial (1982/PG)

We rode the ride at Universal Studios Florida, we’ve played the video game on the Atari 2600 (yes we still have an Atari 2600.) But how does the movie that all of these are based on still hold up after 30+ years, that’s right we’re talking about ET The extraterrestrial. The story of course is timeless this is back during the Golden age of Spielberg when he was cranking out such shit as Raiders of the lost Ark and producing such memorable films as back to the future. However the simplicity of a boy wanting a friend coming from the stars holds true to this day. In fact take out all the 80s technology references and you can still see how well this film holds up. Waterview the plot we all know the story it’s because it’s such a timeless classic that will recommend you watch it now on demand or in high definition which looks perfectly pristine in fact the original 1982 nine walkie-talkie version is available for streaming which itself is a sheer masterpiece.

On a scale of 1.0 to 5.9 it got a 5.7 out of 5.9
