Review: Jingle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom

Oh come on now your probably saying to yourself, how is this worthy  of a review, when Disneyland spends a whole month transforming the Haunted MAnsion out west. Your right on the surface this is a basi overlay and just a tweak of the script on the other hand it’s a breath of fresh or to what is sometimes a ride that is a little to much corn. Hop aboard as we go on the Jingle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom.

Ok so first off we said its a just a simple overlay so is it worth waiting in line 65 minuets without a fast pass?  Well we had a fast pass so we’re going to say no, however if your offered this attraction as one of your fast pass options as the E-ticket attractions at the park are ot available, then this is a welcome treat. We have in the past rode the regular Jungle Cruise at 1:15am on Feb 29th 2012 during the One More Disney Day event just to cross that off our list of unique attractions.

When it comes to the Jingle Cruise what can you expect? Short answer lots of Christmas jokes. Long answer however is a holiday treat filled with humorous corny Christmas puns peppered in with the Jungle cruise script. Once again like the regular ride the Skopper can make or break the ride. The day we rode our Skipper was funny, self deprecating, and totally into the role. Yes we know the job has to be repetitive with the same script over and over but breathing life into the hat script for a whole 8 hour shift is what can make this cheesy attraction a winner.

Review: Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam at MGM

Yes we know that progress must be made and that things come and go. What are we getting at you say? The answer is simple with the Streets of America closed down to become Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land means that the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights had to leave and what we now have is Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam.

If you’ve been to MGM in the past few months then you’ve seen the Star Wars show displayed on the Chinese Theater which is home to The Great Movie Ride. Basically that means it uses the same infrastructure as that show with large screen projections on the theater and lasers. While the overall concept is good, compared to the Osborne lights we’ve been so accustomed to , it does feel like a bit of a letdown.  The main issues we had was while this is a Christmas show, a lot of the clips used where not from Disney Christmas cartoons, that it self took away form the over all holiday feel of the show.

Is this show a total bust?  Well no if you haven’t been to MGMin a few years or never saw the Osborne Lights. Honestly the fireworks of Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam remind us if the original  Sorcery in the Sky that we saw way back in 1990. But over all had this show been over the at the Magic Kingdom instead of MGM it would be a better fit. However it’s a catch 22 you don’t have 5 million lights and ha half the par under construction it was either Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam or nothing.

Review: Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom

When you make reservations six months in advance this better be the best dinner ever, oh yes we’re going there, it’s Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom.

We’ll be honest Magic Kingdom has ok walk up food and a great taco salad bar but for years Epcot was the place to go for fantastic sit down restaurants. Finallythe  changed in 2012 with the opening of Be Our Guest.

Thankfully this restaurant lives up to the hype of the food it is delicious in every sense, the food is Epcot quality what you would see in the world showcase not the walk ups of the Magic Kingdom. Deeming is phenomenal everything model after the movie to a T the West Wing the grand ballroom everything is there the food is just the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake there is the infamous gray stuff it’s delicious we don’t know what’s in it but it’s delicious.

And of course the atmosphere pays off when you get an actual meeting with the beast himself now he used to meet in France at Epcot, whatever since 2012 when does restaurant open he’s now the exclusive location so if you want to meet him this is a must do to get your character fix.

Review: Suicide Squad (2016/PG-13)

We’re not super into comic book based movies, so we don’t have a god in the DC / Marvel fight.

That said we did see the dark Knight we didn’t care for the dark Knight rises or Batman begins and we did see all the previous Batman’s before the Christopher Nolan reboot, so we worked blindly walking in to suicide squad.

What did we think of this film well, it’s OK yes the ultimate bad guy seems to be a little too stock villain. We love the scenes with the joker and of course Harley Quinn stole the show. Honestly this felt like the bad guy version of the avengers and again while we’re not into comic book movies as a whole it was a good popcorn flicks maybe you could see it in the dollar theater or catching on cable it’s not one of those you must run to see.

Review: Captain America: Civil War (2016/PG-13)

There back (well almost all of them) in Captain America: Civil War. Basically sans Thor and Hulk this more or less Avengers 3. While it was an all around decent flick with the humor of Iron Man and the addition of Spider Man an AntMan, this seems more political with the team split over the collateral damage done when fighting bad guys.

It’s a plot that looks more like it could fit within an ark of Agents of SHEILD but once again the characters make it work. While the whole civil war thing looks like the end of the team we all know that won’t be the case. Honestly we would have like to see Deadpool show up but still it’s a good popcorn movie.

Review: Frozen Ever After at Epcot

Here ye! Here ye! After 2 1/2 years the maelstrom has finally been repurposed and reborn as frozen ever after in the Norway pavilion at Epcot.

so for a dark ride that is not a roller coaster that is the first one toopen since 2012 how does this stack up? The answer is pretty damn well the AAs or audio amatronics  are top notch the sound is fantastic. Yes it’s more or less based frozen and frozen fever, but it does a really good job of hitting all the high notes (pun intended.)

now we didn’t wait five hours like people did an opening day for but like the mine train attraction your going need fast passes to enjoy the ride with out the long wait.

Review: Star Trek Beyond (2016/PG-13)

We don’t know why everyone thinks Star Wars is the hot shit. There’s only seven of those movies and outer 13 (yes 13) movies of Star Trek. So how does this one stack up against the other 12. First off we can tell you it’s a hell of a lot better than Genesis and Star Trek to the wrath of con in fact this is one of the best Star Trek movie since first contact released way back in 1996. This one is all fun as a lot of good comity it and honestly we think Simon Pegg should just write every Star Trek movie from now on. Star Trek be on excels by giving all the character would equal things to do in the film. Of course our favorite is bones and it was a very Nice pairing with Spock. As for the villain yes it’s the standard sci-fi bad guy but that’s pretty much what is in all Star Wars and Star Trek movies now. This is the cream of the Star Trek crop and is worth a watch to rewatch it even buying on Blu-ray or digital. Best of all without JJ Abrams directing it there are no lunch Blairs finally we get to see what Star Trek look like againafter almost 15 years.
